The Remco 12V Soft Wash Pump 7 GPM is the Fatboy in the SmoothFlo line, moving 7.0 GPM and shutting off at 100 PSI. It's a USA-made, 5-chamber diaphragm pump with Viton valves and a Santoprene diaphragm, built to run SH up to 12%.

Key Features

  • Viton valves and Santoprene diaphragm: the SH-durable wetted build that runs bleach where EPDM and Buna pumps fail fast.
  • 7.0 GPM open flow: a 5-chamber positive-displacement diaphragm with the extra flow for two-story reach on a single-gun rig.
  • FLO-IQ dual control: the pressure switch and bypass work together to kill the rapid cycling that wears out ordinary demand pumps.
  • Sealed IP65 motor: shrugs off the corrosive chemical mist that destroys open-motor pumps, and the Fatboy uses heavier 12 AWG leads.
  • Self-priming to 14 ft: pulls the mix from a tank mounted below the pump and survives a run-dry when the tank empties.
  • Made in USA, 3/4" quick-attach ports: the retail unit ships with 3/4" QA fittings, and the pressure switch and relay are built in.

What's Included

  • Remco 5900-Series SmoothFlo Fatboy pump (7.0 GPM, 100 PSI)
  • 3/4" quick-attach hose-barb fittings
  • Built-in pressure switch and relay

It runs on 12V DC. Remco specs a Group 24 deep-cycle battery as the minimum, but the 7 GPM pulls harder than the 5.3, so most operators run a larger deep-cycle marine battery and an 8 AWG battery run. Fuse it at 30 A.

It handles SH up to 12% plus common soft wash chemicals, with on-demand operation off the pressure switch. Run a 50-mesh inline inlet filter, and when you're pumping SH use a slotted PVC suction filter instead of fine stainless or nylon mesh.

It isn't for potable water, gasoline, petroleum, or flammable liquids. It's intermittent duty, so give it cool-down time instead of running it flat out, and don't push SH stronger than 12%, since that shortens elastomer life.

How It Works

A sealed 12V motor drives a 5-chamber Santoprene diaphragm, and Viton check valves open and close in sequence so each chamber draws fluid in on the down-stroke and pushes it out on the up-stroke. In a soft wash rig the pump sits after the tank and before the hose. It self-primes the SH and surfactant mix from the tank, up to 14 ft of lift, then pushes it to your gun at up to 100 PSI. The demand switch starts the pump when the gun opens and stops it at the 100 PSI setpoint when the gun closes, and FLO-IQ damps the rapid on/off cycling that wears out ordinary demand pumps.

The 7 GPM trades higher current draw and about 10 lbs of weight for the extra flow, so size your battery and wiring to match. Flush 1 to 2 tanks of clean water through the pump after every shift, and never leave SH sitting in it overnight. Under daily SH use, plan on replacing the valves and valve housing about once a year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What battery, fuse, and wire does the 7 GPM need?

A 12V Group 24 deep-cycle battery is the spec'd minimum, but the 7 GPM draws about 24 A max, so most operators run a larger deep-cycle marine battery and an 8 AWG battery run to hold voltage. Fuse it at 30 A. The pump ships with 12 AWG leads.

Is it SH-safe, and how long does it last on bleach?

Yes. The Viton valves and Santoprene diaphragm handle SH up to 12%. Flush 1 to 2 tanks of clean water through it daily. Remco recommends replacing the valves and valve housing every 12 months on SH use. Hard daily commercial use often gets about 6 months per pump head, which is a trade estimate, not an OEM figure.

How is it different from the 5.3 GPM Remco?

Same SH-safe build and FLO-IQ control, but 7.0 GPM instead of 5.3 for more reach on taller work. It draws more current, weighs about 10 lbs instead of 7, and uses Fatboy-specific parts, including 12 AWG leads and the PSW-FB-80-R pressure switch.
