How to Choose the Right 12V Soft Wash System
A 12V system is the easiest way to start soft washing without a gas skid. It's quiet, runs off your truck battery, and costs about half what a gas setup does. Picking the right one depends on the flow rate you need, the jobs you actually run, and whether you want just the pump or a complete bundle that's ready on day one.
Flow rate and job mix
The Remco 5.3 GPM is the cheapest way in and handles solo residential work like single-story houses, fences, driveways, and small roofs. The Remco 7 GPM is the most popular pick for pros running a single rig because it reaches two-story houses without straining. The Remco Zeus SmoothFlo 24V pushes 14 GPM at 150 PSI for commercial routes and multi-story work where a 12V would run out of breath. If you're between sizes, go up. Undersized systems are what we hear most contractors regret a year in.
Pump only, plumbing kit, or full bundle
If you already have a rig with hose, reel, gun, and proportioner, just buy the pump. If you have most of the pieces but need the fittings, filters, and hoses to plumb the pump into a proportioner setup, grab the matched 5 GPM or 7 GPM plumbing kit. If you're building from scratch, the bundles save you up to $300 over piecing it together and include a free gallon of Apple Juice surfactant plus a respirator. Every part in the bundle is pre-matched, so the proportioner fits the pump's GPM, the hose fits the reel, and the gun fits the hose.
Chemical resistance and lifespan
Every pump in this collection runs Viton and Santoprene wetted parts that hold up to 12.5% sodium hypochlorite. That said, a 12V pump is a consumable. Expect roughly six months of daily commercial use before the head wears out, versus several years on a gas setup. Flush the pump with clean water after every job and never leave SH sitting in it overnight. Keep a spare pump or pump head on the rig; swap time is under 30 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a 12V soft wash system?
A 12V soft wash system uses an electric diaphragm pump powered by a 12-volt battery (usually your truck battery) to spray soft wash chemicals at low pressure and moderate flow. They're quieter than gas, cheaper to buy, simpler to maintain, and don't need fuel. The tradeoff is lower flow (5 to 7 GPM) and shorter pump life than gas units.
Which 12V soft wash pump should I buy?
The Remco 5.3 GPM is the entry-level pick for solo residential and weekend work. The Remco 7 GPM is what most full-time residential pros end up on, because it handles two-story houses without strain. Step up to the Remco Zeus SmoothFlo 24V at 14 GPM if you're running commercial work or hitting third-story heights from the ground.
12V or gas soft wash pump: which is better?
12V is cheaper, quieter, lighter, and simpler to maintain. Gas pumps more flow, holds higher pressure, and lasts years instead of months. If you're starting out, running a few houses a week, or working in quiet neighborhoods, 12V is the better way in. If you're full-time, hitting big commercial jobs, or you want a pump that doesn't need replacing every six months, go gas. We break the whole comparison down in the 12V vs Gas Soft Wash Pumps guide.
How long does a 12V soft wash pump last?
Roughly six months of daily commercial use before the pump head wears out, longer if you're part-time. Sodium hypochlorite is hard on diaphragms and seals, so always flush with clean water after each job, never leave SH sitting in the pump, and winterize before freezing weather. Keep a spare pump or pump head on your rig. Swap time is under 30 minutes.
Do I need a plumbing kit with my Remco pump?
If you're running the pump on a proportioner setup, yes. The plumbing kit includes the hose barbs, uniseals, filters, clamps, and color-coded hoses that connect the pump to your chlorine, water, and soap lines. The 5 GPM and 7 GPM kits are sized to match their respective pumps. If you buy a Remco 12V bundle, the plumbing kit is already included.
What about pressure switches: do I need one?
A pressure switch shuts the pump off automatically when you release the gun trigger, which protects the pump from running dry and extends its life. Remco uses model-specific switches: the PSW-5100R-80 is built for the 5500 Series 5.3 GPM pump, and the PSW-FB-80-R (with relay) is built for the Fatboy Series 7 GPM pump. Both are sold as replacement parts and include the screws and diaphragm needed for installation. The 24V Zeus uses the ZSSR 24VDC solid state relay for the same function. Check your pump model before ordering a replacement.
Will the bundles ship to me directly?
Yes. Unlike the gas-powered Comet P40 and AR45 bundles, all three Remco 12V and 24V bundles ship standard parcel, so no freight delivery is required. Check our shipping policy for current lead times.
