Product Description
Shipping & Returns

The Remco 5500 pressure switch (PSW-5100R-80) is the demand switch that starts and stops your 5.3 GPM Remco pump automatically. Pull the gun trigger, it turns on. Release it, line pressure climbs to the shut-off point and the pump turns off. Genuine OEM part, model-matched to the 5500.

Key Features

  • Demand on/off control: Reads line pressure and cycles the pump with your gun, so the motor never runs against a closed trigger.
  • Field-adjustable setpoint: Dials in from roughly 80 to 100 PSI with a 1/16" hex key, in half-turn increments. Don't exceed three full turns.
  • Polypropylene housing: Chemical and impact resistant on the outside.
  • Heavy-duty microswitch: Built for the cycling a soft wash gun puts it through all day.
  • Complete swap kit: Switch, diaphragm, spade connector, and four screws in the box. No parts hunting mid-job.

What's Included

  • 4 pressure-switch screws

Fits Remco 5500 Series 5.3 GPM demand pumps set for 80+ PSI, including the 12V soft wash pump. It won't install on any other pump brand. It's also not the switch for the 7 GPM FatBoy pump, which uses the Remco PSW-FB-80-R switch and relay instead. Match the switch to the setpoint on your pump label.

How the Remco 5500 Pressure Switch Works

The switch mounts on the pump's upper housing and reads outlet pressure through an internal diaphragm. Open the gun and line pressure drops, so the switch starts the motor. Close the gun and pressure builds to the factory shut-off point, so the switch stops the motor. That keeps the pump from running against a closed gun, which is what burns out demand pumps.

Running SH? Flush the pump and system with clean water at the end of every day. One or two tanks of fresh water adds years of pump life. The switch diaphragm sits in the wetted path, so a daily flush protects it too.

Frequently Asked Questions

What pump does the Remco PSW-5100R-80 fit?

It fits Remco 5500 Series 5.3 GPM demand pumps set for 80+ PSI, including the 12V soft wash pump. It won't work on other pump brands, and it isn't the switch for the 7 GPM FatBoy pump.

Can I adjust the pressure on a Remco 5500 pressure switch?

Yes. It's factory preset but adjustable with a 1/16" hex key in half-turn increments. Turn the set screw clockwise to raise the shut-off pressure. Don't go past three full turns. Higher pressure means more wear and more leak risk.

How do I know if my pressure switch is bad?

Jumper the two spade connectors. If the pump runs with them jumped, the switch is bad and needs replacing. Also check for fluid leaking from the switch on the pump face, which points to a ruptured diaphragm.
