Stainless Steel Hex Bushing

Stainless Steel Hex Bushing

Product Description
Shipping & Returns

The stainless steel hex reducing bushing steps a 3/4" MNPT port down to a smaller female thread in one compact fitting. It's what you thread in when your hose reel inlet doesn't match the line size you're running. Comes in 3/8" FNPT x 3/4" MNPT and 1/2" FNPT x 3/4" MNPT. Cast 304 stainless, Class 150, sold as a single fitting.

Key Features

  • One-piece thread reduction: Male 3/4" NPT on the large end, smaller female NPT through the center. No adapter stack, no extra leak points.
  • 304 cast stainless steel: Won't rust on a washdown rig or a reel that lives outside. Holds up to SH better than plated brass or zinc.
  • Hex body: Standard wrench flats, so you can torque it down without rounding it off.
  • Class 150 cast fitting: The common pattern for general-service stainless threaded fittings.
  • NPT tapered threads: Conform to ASME B1.20.1. Wrap the male end with PTFE tape and thread it in.

How It Works

The bushing threads into a 3/4" female port and gives you a smaller female outlet in its place. Most soft wash reels ship with a 3/4" inlet, but your swivel, hose, or fitting runs a smaller thread. This is the piece that bridges the two. Pick the variant whose female size matches the fitting going in downstream.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a hex bushing and a reducer?

A hex bushing has male threads on one end and female threads on the other, so it nests inside a larger female port and steps it down at a single point. A reducer, or reducing coupling, is female on both ends and joins two runs in line. For adapting a reel inlet, the bushing is the right part.

Will this fit my hose reel?

If your reel has a 3/4" female NPT inlet, yes. Thread this bushing in and you've got a 3/8" or 1/2" female outlet to run your line off. Check the female size against the fitting you're connecting downstream before you order.

Is 304 stainless okay for soft wash?

Yes. 304 is corrosion-resistant stainless and handles the intermittent SH exposure a reel fitting sees on a normal job. Rinse the rig after use and it'll last. 316 adds molybdenum for heavier, constant chloride contact, so it's the upgrade for parts that sit in SH full time. For a hose reel adapter, 304 is the standard call.
