Rust Rx is a non-hazardous rust remover that pulls iron stains off concrete, pavers, siding, and metal. Use it straight or cut it with water up to 1:1, and one gallon covers 150 to 300 square feet of concrete undiluted. It ships standard parcel, no hazmat fee.
Key Features
-
Marine-safe positioning: Built as the milder option for work around plants, pets, and waterfront property, and it ships standard parcel with no hazmat surcharge. F9 BARC, by contrast, ships UN1760 hazmat.
-
Multi-surface: Rated for concrete, pavers, stone, brick, vinyl siding, rubber, awnings, painted steel, brass, copper, wood, and ceramic.
-
Straight or diluted: Use it right out of the jug on heavier staining, or cut it with water up to 1:1 to dial in strength for the job.
-
Coverage: One gallon covers 150 to 300 square feet of concrete undiluted. Stain severity, surface texture, and temperature all move that number.
-
Targets iron stains bleach can't touch: Rust from fertilizer, irrigation heads, battery acid, and rusted tools left on concrete.
-
Keep it off your bleach rig: It's an acid. Never mix it with SH. Run it on its own day.

Apply with a pump-up sprayer. Because it's an acid, keep it out of your bleach and SH downstream system and use a dedicated acid-resistant sprayer, so it doesn't attack brass or aluminum wetted parts. Acids can etch glass and dull polished metal and calcareous stone like marble or limestone, so mask glass and spot-test polished surfaces first. The manufacturer says to spot-test an inconspicuous area before you commit to the full job.
How It Works
Rust is an iron-oxide stain, and bleach doesn't do anything to it. Rust Rx is an acid that binds the iron into a water-soluble complex, so the stain lifts and rinses off instead of needing to be scrubbed out. Apply it to the stain, let it dwell, agitate lightly, then rinse. Start on the weaker side of the dilution range and step up the strength only if the stain needs it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I mix Rust Rx into my bleach mix?
No. Never mix an acid rust remover with sodium hypochlorite. Acid plus bleach releases chlorine gas. Run Rust Rx on its own day, and rinse any bleach residue off the surface before you switch chemistries.
Do I use Rust Rx straight or diluted?
Either. Use it straight from the jug on heavier staining, or cut it with water up to 1:1 to find the right strength for the job. Start weaker and step up. Spot-test an inconspicuous area first.
How much area does one gallon cover?
About 150 to 300 square feet of concrete undiluted. Stain severity, surface texture, and temperature all move that number, and diluting stretches the gallon further on lighter stains.
