How to Choose the Right Soft Wash Accessories
It's the catch-all bin for the rig. Some of it ties your plumbing together. Some of it rebuilds a specific pump. The rest keeps grit out of the pump and chlorine out of your lungs. A few pressure-washer parts ride along too, because the same guy runs all of it off one truck. Pick by the pump you're running.
Plumbing kits and fittings
If you're building a rig from scratch, start with the plumbing kit that matches your pump. We stock pre-sized kits for the Comet P40, AR45, Remco Zeus, and the 5 and 7 GPM 12V pumps, so the hoses, fittings, and filters land in one box. Doing it piece by piece, you'll find poly and 304 stainless fittings that hold up to SH, plus Banjo Poly Camlocks for quick tank swaps and thread tape for the joints that always weep. Skip the brass fittings you'll find on Amazon. SH corrodes them.
Repair parts and electrical (check the pump first)
These fit one pump and one pump only. The Comet P40 Repair Kit is the OEM rebuild: three diaphragms, six check valves, twelve O-rings. The AR45 Diaphragm Kit (AR43238) rebuilds the Annovi Reverberi AR45 with Viton diaphragms and O-rings. On the 12V Remco side, the PSW-5100R-80 switch runs the 5500 series at 5.3 GPM, and the PSW-FB-80-R switch and relay runs the Fatboy at 7 GPM. For the 24V Remco Zeus, the relay is the ZSSR 24VDC, rated for 40 amps. Wrong part on any of these is wasted money. Read the label before you order.
Filters, gauges, and safety
A $4 Soap Filter sits on the 1/4" chem draw line and keeps tank grit out of the pump. Past that, the In-line Filter drops into the line and catches whatever slips through, in 1/2", 3/4", and 1" sizes. The Soft Wash Pressure Gauge reads to 350 PSI off the 1/4" MPT gauge port on a Comet P40 or AR45, so you're not guessing at pressure (the P40 needs a bushing). And the respirator's the one you don't skip: a CE-certified half-mask with PE1 chlorine cartridges and KN95 filters. A drugstore N95 does nothing against chlorine vapor, and SH off-gasses worse on a hot roof.

What accessories does a soft wash rig actually need?
Start with what protects the pump and you. A respirator. A Soap Filter on the chem draw line. A Soft Wash Pressure Gauge so you can read the pump instead of guessing. Once you're running steady routes, add stainless hose clamps, thread tape, and Banjo Poly Camlocks so tank swaps take seconds. The repair parts are pump-specific. Buy those before a job goes down, not after.
Do I need a respirator for soft washing?
Yes. SH off-gasses chlorine, and it's worse on hot roofs and in tight spots like soffits and attics. The Soft Wash Respirator here is a CE-certified half-mask with PE1 chlorine cartridges and KN95 particulate filters. A standard N95 dust mask does nothing against chlorine vapor.
Which REMCO pressure switch fits my pump?
Two switches, two pumps. The PSW-5100R-80 fits the Remco 5500 series, the 5.3 GPM 12V pump. The PSW-FB-80-R switch and relay fits the Fatboy series, the 7 GPM 12V pump. Both cut off above 80 PSI and ship with the screws and diaphragm for the install. Check the pump label before you order.
What's the difference between the Soap Filter and the In-line Filter?
The Soap Filter is a 1/4" strainer on the chemical draw line, before the pump, so tank debris never reaches it. The In-line Filter threads into the plumbing line and screens whatever gets past the draw side. Most operators run both: the soap filter to protect the pump, the in-line to protect the gun and tips. The in-line comes in 1/2", 3/4", and 1" to match your line.
Does the PF22 Foamer Kit work with a soft wash pump?
No. The PF22 is a high-pressure foam cannon rated for 1,100 to 5,000 PSI and 1.4 to 5.3 GPM. It connects to a pressure-washer gun and uses that pressure to pull soap from its own bottle. Soft wash pumps run at 100 to 150 PSI, nowhere near enough to drive the cannon. It's here for the operators who also run a pressure washer for flatwork or fleet.
How often does the AR45 diaphragm need replacing?
Rebuild when the signs show up, not on a fixed schedule. A pressure drop with milky oil in the sight glass means a diaphragm ruptured and water's getting into the crankcase. Stop the pump and rebuild before the bearings take damage. Lifespan depends on SH strength, hours, water quality, and whether you flush the pump with fresh water at the end of every job. Flushing buys you the most life.
